Program Officer at Asia Society


Asia Society, a prestigious, global, cultural and educational non-profit seeks a Program Officer to be a key part of the Global Leadership Initiatives team at the Asia Society. This person will play a key role in the development and direction of the newly formed Global Leadership Initiatives department. Specific duties will focus on: the Asia 21 Young Leaders Initiative, an international initiative engaging young leaders from diverse sectors and from around the Asia-Pacific region and the United States, to tackle problems of mutual concern; the Women Leaders of New Asia Initiative; and the Diversity Leadership Forum. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
• Assist in the development and maintenance of protocols, processes and procedures for the implementation of Global Leadership Initiatives.
• Support the Global Leadership Initiatives team with fundraising and developing and executing a strategic planning process for new programming.
• Involved in all aspects of Asia 21, Women Leaders of New Asia, and Diversity Leadership activities. 
• Provide research, including literature and research reviews, for Global Leadership Initiatives and other programs as appropriate. 
• Investigate special areas of program interest and keep abreast of trends and developments in the Leadership field; 
• Network and learn who’s who among key AS constituents; 
• Gather and synthesize program information, pulling together and analyzing disparate and even contradictory qualitative and quantitative information from a wide variety of sources; 
• Work to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of all components of the Society: facilitate the flow of information between and among staff and identify redundancies in organizational systems and procedures; 
• Facilitate communication between the Global Leadership Initiatives team and other areas of the Society, Centers, and other organizations; 
• Manage the Internship program for the Leadership Initiatives department, including recruiting interns and supervising selected candidates; 
• Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Master’s degree with 3-4 years related work experience preferred. 
• Interest and some background in Asian affairs and Leadership. 
• Outstanding written, verbal and organizational skills required. 
• High degree of confidence and ability to exercise independent judgment. 
• Must be flexible, able to set priorities, manage multiple tasks, take initiative and problem solve. 
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Image, video and audio editing experience a plus. 
• Ability to interact comfortably with high-level individuals. 
• Creative and entrepreneurial spirit; and
• Interest to travel as needed.
