Overview
The Advocacy Manager, Global Vaccines Campaign will be responsible for advancing the advocacy agenda of the UN Foundation’s Global Vaccines Campaign with Capitol Hill, the Executive Branch, and non-governmental organizations. He or she will work closely with the Global Vaccines Campaign senior leadership, Better World Campaign (BWC), and the Global Health team to develop strategies to educate and raise awareness to key policymakers and other influencers about the value of vaccines as the most cost-effective way to reduce childhood mortality in the developing world.
Working Relationships
Advocacy Manager, Global Vaccines Campaign is a member of the Better World Campaign, but liaises closely with the Global Vaccines Campaign, Public Affairs team, Global Partnerships team and Global Health team at the UN Foundation. He or she will report to the Director of the Better World Campaign.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Works with the Executive Director and Director, Global Vaccines Campaign, and the BWC team to formulate legislative, Executive Branch and NGO strategy and messages to advance the mission of the Global Vaccines Campaign.
• Serves to help coordinate legislative outreach for the Global Vaccines Campaign to members of Congress and their staffs on vaccine issues; works with Committee and Member staff to increase the visibility of global vaccines and make a case for U.S. leadership on vaccines; and works to identify and cultivate champions for vaccines across the political spectrum. 
• Manages a vaccine advocacy coalition of likeminded organizations with similar goals of encouraging U.S. leadership on global vaccines. Serves as Global Vaccines Campaign representative on other relevant legislative coalitions.
• Develops an annual e-briefing book on the state of the world’s vaccines and U.S. investment in vaccines for Members of Congress, their staff, and other policymakers. Drafts other web- and paper-based briefing materials and correspondence relating to the Global Vaccines Campaign, including regular emails to Congressional staff with timely news about vaccines and key messages.
• Drafts letters, talking points, fact sheets, blogs, op-eds, and policy analyses for United Nations Foundation/Better World Campaign leadership team and/or surrogate luminaries and champions related to vaccines. 
• Helps to plan and coordinate Congressional staff trips on vaccines-related issues when warranted and to contribute to global health issue briefings and roundtable discussions where relevant. 
• Works closely with the BWC and Global Vaccines Campaign teams to assist on general global health advocacy activities and opportunities.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• College degree required; preferably in the fields of political science, international affairs, or communications.
• Masters degree desired; preferably in public health and/or public policy.
• At least 3-5 years experience on Capitol Hill, and/or in a DC-based legislative affairs office.
• Experience representing the organization to outside audiences required.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Previous experience developing written materials (analyses, reports, talking points, etc.) for senior executives and members of boards of directors.
• Ability to develop, maintain, and enjoy effective working relationships with people from a wide variety of organizations and with a wide variety of functional expertise.
• Ability to drive projects from inception to implementation.
• Proven ability to work across departments to accomplish mission.
• Flexibility and a team player.
• Self starter.
