Summer 2011 ISOA Associate Program Internships


Come join the world’s only standards-based trade association, and work with private companies and organizations working in conflict and post-conflict environments. The International Stability Operations Association’s mission is to be the valued and trusted association of private sector organizations providing critical services to governmental, military and commercial clients. ISOA provides membership services, weekly publications and a platform for discussion on issues related to the stability operations industry. The Association has a number of exciting and robust internship positions available and has proven to be an invaluable resource for those interested in international affairs, trade, government and public affairs and business.
ISOA is the non-partisan, non-governmental, non-profit 501(c)6 trade association of the stability-operations industry.
FT/PT: Preferably full-time, although part-time schedules can be negotiated.
Associate Position Summary:
ISOA seeks motivated individuals for the Summer 2011 Associate Program to fill each of 6 Associate Positions. These positions provide support to the Association’s full-time staff and coordinates committees and other activities related to ISOA’s communications, advocacy and government relations.
-Part time, full time
-Monthly Stipend
-Work location: Washington, DC headquarter office
Responsibilities:
-Managing ISOA Member Committees
-Writing articles for and editing the Journal of International Peace Operations
-Conducting research and writing content for the ISOA Weekly Digest
-Researching and reporting on relevant legal and regulatory developments
-Attending events, conferences and roundtables on behalf of ISOA
-Contributing to social media and outreach programs
-Planning and attending ISOA conferences and events
-Developing new project initiatives
Qualifications:
-Ideal candidates are undergraduate students, graduate students and recent graduates 
-Academic background in international affairs, international business, law, conflict resolution, journalism, public policy, security studies or international development
-Ability to work with deadlines and utilizes effective time management strategies
-Experience working on group projects
-Available for events outside of normal working hours, on as-needed basis.
Required Skills:
-Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office basics (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)
-Ability to navigate social media outlets
-Ability to use computer and type
Other Information:
Internships vary in duration and are flexible to fit in with study and course schedules. Most positions are full time, but a limited number of part-time internships are available in each Associate class. ISOA offers a monthly stipend based on academic qualification and weekly work hours.
