Mil Mujeres, a non-profit legal services organization dedicated to providing comprehensive immigration and family law legal services to Spanish-speaking survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, seeks legal interns for this summer.
Mil Mujeres will select full-time interns. We will consider recent graduates, undergraduate or graduate students, with a preference given to law students: 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls. The positions are unpaid, though we encourage applicants to secure funded fellowships. Students may also receive credit in exchange for their services when permitted in accordance with school or law school policies.
Ideal candidates will have a strong interest in using the law as a vehicle for social change. Spanish language skills preferred. Candidates should also possess strong written and oral communications skills, and strong research abilities.
Mil Mujeres is committed to providing interns with substantial responsibility. Interns will interview and counsel clients under attorney supervision, and draft written work products. Interns will master substantive areas of immigration and family law as it applies to helping domestic and sexual assault survivors.
We are seeking students/recent graduates who have availability during the week, Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 - 5 for the summer 2011. Specific hours and start/end dates are flexible.
