UPR Info is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation based in Geneva, Switzerland, entirely dedicated to the Universal Periodic Review. Its aim is to both raise awareness and provide capacity-building tools to the different actors of the UPR process, such as UN Member States, non-governmental organisations, National Human Rights Institutions and civil society in general.
Created on 7 February 2008, UPR Info is currently composed of two staff members.
As a result of its deep involvement in the UPR since its inception in April 2008, the organisation has developed a unique expertise on the UPR process itself and has an extensive record of each State's UPR sessions. It website is, besides the OHCHR website, the first source of information on the UPR and is a valuable resource providing useful tools to UPR actors.
Internship description
The intern will manage the website (no IT skills needed) in English, French and Spanish, upload text and documents, translate documents from English to Spanish and produce analysis on the UPR to be published on the website.
The intern will also follow parts of the Human Rights Council session and the UPR session at the United Nations as well as participate in several meetings on the UPR with NGOs and diplomats.
Finally, he/she will be deeply involved in the UPR process and experience a first-hand insight into the work and functioning of a small NGO.
Profile needed
- Degree in international relations, international law or human rights
- Interest in international human rights mechanisms and the United Nations system
- Particular interest in the
- Strong analytical skills and dedication
- Fluent in English and Spanish
- Knowledge of French highly recommended

The internship is unpaid and full time (40 hours/week) for 3 months from September 5 2011 to November 25 2011
