Legal Intern at International Crisis Group - New York

Crisis Group is looking for a full-time intern to assist the General Counsel on a wide range of issues that include legal and compliance operations, governance, tax exempt laws and other issues relating to an international NGO with 501 (c)(3) tax exempt status. The intern will support the General Counsel in editing memorandums for distribution to Crisis Group staff, schedule appointments, handle correspondence and keep track of calendars. The intern will also handle basic clerical tasks such as answering phones, filing and delivering materials. The legal internship is aimed at students or recent graduates who plan to pursue legal studies or work. The position is primarily administrative in nature but offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in law applicable to legal operations of a high profile international NGO.

Qualifications:
•Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in law, international relations or similar subject
•Excellent verbal and written command of English
•Other language proficiency a plus
•Knowledge of Crisis Group reports helpful
•Computer skills in Microsoft Office, email and internet applications
•Strong administrative skills
•Self-motivated, flexible and reliable
•Ability to deal confidently and swiftly with a variety of demanding tasks
•Must be available 40 hours per week for a period of at least six months
•Authorization to work in the United States
