International Human Rights Education and Outreach Intern at the Center for Constitutional Rights


Currently, we seek an intern to work primarily on education and outreach regarding CCR’s International Human Rights work. This position will work with the International Human Rights Education and Outreach Associate, and will require strong research, writing and interpersonal communication skills. An interest in social justice organizing and advocacy is a must. Please note that this is not a legal position.
Some of the issues the International Human Rights Education and Outreach Intern will work on include accountability for US private military contractors, the 2009 coup d’etat inHondurasand the human rights crisis inHaiti.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research and write memos on international human rights issues
  • Draft educational materials
  • Assist in planning events regarding key struggles for human rights
  • Attend internal meetings with legal and communications staff
  • Some limited administrative work
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated commitment to human rights and social justice
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Comfort working with many different people and juggling multiple tasks
  • Familiarity or experience with international human rights laws and institutions is a plus.
  • Experience using Illustrator and Publisher helpful but not required
  • A minimum 3 month commitment, at least 10 hours per week is required. Candidates seeking both full-time and part-time internships will be considered.
Spanish language skills are a big plus but not required
