The Schonfeld Fellowship was established in 2008 by the AJC Berlin Office Ramer Institute for German-Jewish Relations in order to offer young American leaders an opportunity to gain political advocacy skills in the areas of German-Jewish relations and foreign policy, from a Jewish perspective. The nature of the fellowship depends on the interests of the fellow and the current needs of the Berlin office. Past fellows at AJC Berlin have organized events dealing with intergroup relations, such as transatlantic relations including ongoing sessions of AJC Berlin Transatlantic Roundtable, and Mideast affairs. Fellows are involved in initiating, organizing and implementing such events and working closely with the programming staff.
The ten-month position is research and writing intensive and involves considerable program work.
Candidates must possess a Bachelors, a demonstrated interest in German politics and foreign policy, superior writing skills in English, and advanced competency in spoken German.
