SUMMER 2011 INTERNSHIPS
The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) is seeking candidates for several intern positions for summer 2011.
Strong applicants will have an interest in international affairs and a working knowledge of the U.S. political process. Applicants must be willing to assist with all aspects of the USGLC, including general administrative tasks.
Graduate and undergraduate internships are available. Scheduling can be flexible to accommodate class schedules. Interns should be available at least 35-40 hrs/week for summer 2011.
Interns assist in all aspects of the USGLC including, but not limited to:
ADVOCACY:
- Attending Congressional hearings and events and summarizing proceedings.
- Learning about the Congressional Budget and Appropriations process, particularly as it pertains to funding America’s foreign policy initiatives.
- Tracking key legislation throughout the budget and appropriations process.
- Assisting USGLC staff in mobilizing our broadbased network to communicate to Congress at key times in budget/appropriations cycle.
- Assisting in maintaining Congressional contact database.
EDUCATION
- Researching the domestic, economic, and security impacts of America’s engagement abroad.
- Tracking new movements on the Administration’s global development agenda.
- Organizing and executing USGLC events in DC and around the country.
- Assisting in growing and sustaining an active nationwide grassroots movement.
- Drafting content for blog, materials, and reports.

The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) is a broad-based influential network of 400 businesses and NGOs; national security and foreign policy experts; and business, faith-based, academic and community leaders in all 50 states who support the “smart power” approach of elevating diplomacy and development alongside defense in order to build a better, safer world.
