Rights for All is a non for profit grassroots NGO committed to the promotion and protection of human rights in the CEMAC zone.
We are currently looking for an intern to work in our human rights monitoring in detention facilities team.
Job description:
HUMAN RIGHTS IN PRISONS INTERN TASKS AND DUTIES
• Investigating and monitoring prison conditions
• Lobbying for their improvement
• Facilitating access to legal representation for pre-trial detainees and victims of human rights abuses
• Collaborating with lawyers and government officials to improve the respect for human rights in prisons and promote alternatives, such as bail
• Designing and running of workshops with lawyers, human rights activists and members of the public, to promote prisoner’s’ rights and their respect
• Assisting with legal advice and human rights complaints from members of the public
• Assisting with the writing of reports and newsletters on the Human Rights in Prisons Programme
• Assisting with other projects as instructed by the Programme Director
Requirements:
Applicants should have a strong interest in human rights and its related issues.
· English mandatory, French and other languages is desirable.
· Demonstrate strong interest in human rights and its related issues.
· IT proficiency.
· Previous experience in similar position is welcome.
There is a small internship fee but accommodation and french lessons are offered.
