The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) is a non-partisan American public policy and grantmaking institution dedicated to promoting better understanding and cooperation between North America and Europe on transatlantic and global issues.
Job Summary:
The Immigration and Integration Program, led out of GMF’s Berlin Office, works to enhance the understanding of the challenges and opportunities posed by increased immigration. GMF collaborates with U.S. and European decision-makers, opinion leaders, media, and civil society organizations.
GMF seeks a Program Associate, reporting to the Senior Program Officer, to provide support for all programmatic functions from the Washington, DC office. S/he will work in close cooperation with the Immigration team in Berlin, Germany, as well as, staff in the other European offices and with partner institutions throughout Europe.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
• Project management of Transatlantic Trends: Immigration, an annual international survey of the public opinion on immigration and integration policies. Tasks include:
a. Managing questionnaire drafting and revision, translation, pretesting, fieldwork, and analysis of the data;
b. Drafting the Key Findings Report and
PowerPoint presentation;
PowerPoint presentation;
c. Designing and implementing dissemination efforts;
d. Presenting data to public audiences;
e. Final report and proposal writing;
f. Publications (Op-eds, in-depth papers);
g. Communication with project partners and Advisory Committee;
h. Monitoring project budget;
i. Spearheading fundraising efforts; and
j. Finding new opportunities and outlets to disseminate the findings.
• Representing GMF’s Immigration Program on the U.S. side, e.g. at conferences and other events;
• Outreach and networking;
• Assisting team with other immigration projects and ad-hoc events;
• Assisting team in conceptualizing strategies for the future development of the program; and
• Assisting team in new fundraising initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Two to four years of program coordination or research experience.
• Ability to work independently with remote supervision.
• Strong interest in and working knowledge of European and transatlantic policy issues with a focus on immigration and integration challenges.
• Ability to meet rapid, multiple deadlines in a fast-paced international team orientated environment.
• Superior writing, communication and research skills required.
• Fluency in English required. Knowledge of one or more European languages highly desired.
• Strong candidates will have a Master degree in International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Migration, or another relevant field.
