JOB DESCRIPTION
We are currently working on a project to develop a theory on the content, nature, state obligations, and violations of migrants' rights. This involves analysis of theoretical framework of human rights method, as well as reviewing jurisprudence, decisions, declarations, and practice of varied UN bodies, regional and international courts, state actors, international agencies, NGOs, and academics.
We are seeking a Research Assistant to assist in directed research tasks related to this project.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Fluency and strong writing skills in English
- Strong research and analytical skills
- In addition, strong preference for the ability to read in French and preferably Spanish
- Commitment to social justice and migrants’ rights; interest in migrants’ rights, human rights, or related field
- Basic office skills and computer literacy and the ability to use Word, email, and world wide web required.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Knowledge and/or experience with migrant rights issues
- Previous study or experience in human rights, and familiarity with human rights theory
- Knowledge or interest in United Nations human rights protection systems
- Knowledge or interest in regional systems of human rights protection (European, African, Inter-American)
- Law studies preferred but not required
- Graduate level studies preferred but not required
Trainings in certain topics provided.

MINIMUM COMMITMENT
Prefer between 5 to 20 hours a week for 12 weeks, but can be flexible.
