Summer Legal Intern at the Catholic Migration Office

The Catholic Migration Office (CMO) has an opening for a Summer Legal Intern to assist with documenting wage and hour complaints and ongoing litigation.
The Summer Legal Intern will work primarily in CMO’s new Immigrant Wage Rights Project (IWRP) building the collective power of immigrant workers to end wage theft through popular education, legal representation, and organizing. As part of this new project, CMO operates Linea Laboral in collaboration with the Mexican Consulate, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the New York State Department of Labor. Linea Laboral is a bi-lingual hot-line staffed by CMO that immigrant workers call to report wage and hour, and workplace health and safety violations. In the past 18 months, CMO has empowered over 400 workers to report wage and hour violations resulting in over $1 Million in back wages collected by the US DOL alone.
Applicants must be fluent in Spanish. Prior course work in Employment Law is preferred but not required.
