The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) is a non-partisan American public policy and grant-making institution dedicated to promoting better understanding and cooperation between North America and Europe on transatlantic and global issues.
Job Summary:
The Berlin Office of GMF is seeking an intern, ideally enrolled at graduate level in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, or related fields, with knowledge of current international affairs and a sound understanding of politics and societies in the former Soviet Union, especially Belarus, Russia and Ukraine.
The intern will support GMF’s Senior Program Officer for Central and Eastern Europe on a variety of activities, including:
• Monitoring of ongoing developments in the region;
• Cooperation with and support for civil society organizations;
• Attend public events in Berlin to highlight regional developments before German audiences; and
• Provide topical contributions to international media.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
• Background research and media monitoring on current developments in Eastern Europe;
• Administrative support, information and data management; and
• Logistical support and event organization.

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Excellent Organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of small team.
• Knowledge of current developments in Europe’s Eastern neighbourhoods.
• Fluency in English and good language skills in Russian are required (Knowledge in German a plus).
