Global Program Officer at the Center for International Private Enterprise

The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) strengthens democracy around the globe through private enterprise and market-oriented reform. CIPE is one of the four core institutes of the National Endowment for Democracy. Since 1983, CIPE has worked with business leaders, policymakers, and journalists to build the civic institutions vital to a democratic society. CIPE’s key program areas include anti-corruption, advocacy, business associations, corporate governance, democratic governance, access to information, the informal sector and property rights, and women and youth. 

The Program Officer is responsible for management of global projects as well as providing relevant programmatic and research support with a particular focus on youth entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment, and corporate citizenship. The candidate must be able to handle multiple detail-oriented tasks with limited supervision, have excellent writing and communications skills, demonstrate interest in international development and democratic and market-oriented reform, and work well with a widely diverse staff.
 
Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Working with the Director for Policy Reform to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate projects spanning multiple regions
• Writing/researching/editing articles, policy papers, case studies, speeches, and other publications
• Writing project reports and proposals, drafting and monitoring project budgets
• Handling project administration, including invoices, contracts, and payment requests as needed
• Managing consultants hired to complete specific tasks or produce materials within the framework of given projects
• Adhering to appropriate CIPE, NED and USAID policies and procedures

Requirements:
• Masters degree or equivalent preferred
• 2 years professional program management experience
• Demonstrated writing, proofreading, and research skills
• Experience in international development and topics consistent with CIPE mission, including anti-corruption, democratic governance, corporate governance, business association advocacy, entrepreneurship, and others.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple, detail-oriented tasks with limited supervision
• Foreign language ability helpful but not required
