Role Summary/Purpose General Electric’s International Law & Policy (IL&P) group is seeking qualified candidates for its R. Michael Gadbaw Fellowship program. IL&P overseas GE’s engagement on public policy issues with governments around the world, and works to expand the company’s presence in global markets. Our Fellows are involved in every aspect of our operations.
Essential Responsibilities - Research current global issues in international trade law and policy, climate change, energy production, rule of law, R&D, etc.
- Attend Washington-area briefings and meetings relevant to GE.
- Write memoranda and conduct legal research and analysis; create and edit presentation and briefing materials for IL&P team.
- Assist GE trade experts and lawyers on various ongoing initiatives related to international law, trade, and policy matters.
- Assist office administrative functions as necessary.
Qualifications/Requirements The Fellowship is a year long, full time internship program in GE’s Washington, DC office. We are seeking candidates with an advanced legal or policy education, preferably in international trade or a related field.
- Minimum Master’s degree or J.D.
- One year, full time (at least 40 hours/week) commitment.
- Strong academic and professional credentials.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong research and written communication skills.
- Self-starter and strong work ethic.
Preferred candidates also will possess international experience, foreign language skills, an interest in international law and familiarity with GE’s worldwide operations.
